# Introduction

> Activating your new Capital One card is a simple step before you start using it.

## How to Activate Your Card

* **Online Activation:**  <br />Visit **capitalone.com/activate**. Sign in with your Capital One account, link your new card, and enter the 3-digit security code.
* **Mobile App:**  <br />Download the Capital One Mobile app, log in, and select **Profile → Account & Feature Settings → Activate a Credit Card**.
* **Phone Activation:**  <br />Call the number provided on the sticker attached to your card and follow the automated prompts.

## **What to Do After Activation**

* **Update recurring payments:** Ensure subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, etc.) are linked to your new card.
* **Dispose of old card:** Cut through the chip and magnetic strip for plastic cards. For metal cards, use the return envelope provided.
* **Sign your card:** Always sign the back for added security.
